The New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Round-Up program is into its tenth year. This is a volunteer program allowing residents to voluntarily round-up their monthly utility bill to the next dollar with the excess being earmarked for the NM Parks and Recreation Commission. Over $12,500 has been donated towards this program. Projects include renovations of the Lewis Wetzel Family Center, Bruce Park playground, Miniature Golf Course, and Bruce Park basketball lights. The money collected from this program is placed into an account separate from the Parks and Recreation general budget. The money is strictly for the up-keep of park, playground, and maintenance equipment. The NM Parks and Recreation Commission would like to remind citizens that this is an on-going program and is strictly voluntary. They may participate each month. If they choose to not donate during a monthly payment cycle, they may pick up the program at any time.
Remember or honor someone special with a tree. The trees will be planted in accordance with the Parks and Recreation Commission's Master Plan. For more information contact the New Martinsville Parks Office at 304-455-9130.
